What to do with a long weekend?

So this weekend M and I are having a long weekend and to be honest, we don’t know what to do with it? From 2004-2013 we had a beautiful dog called Peggy and we were out most weekends taking her some wonderful place or other for a walk. When she died we were very sad and sort of lost about what to do at the weekends.

We did start to get our “day out” mojo back within a few months though, which was kick-started by a lovely day trip to Albert Dock in Liverpool. Everything was going well and then of course my mum was diagnosed with cancer in April 2014. During this time we were packing up our old house and then in May 2014 we moved out doing an expert bit of sofa surfing until our new house was ready in June.

We moved in and then immediately flew to America for 2 weeks… by the time we came back, mum had started treatment as then spent the next 6 months in and our of hospital – which meant all fun days out were kind of shelved.

Of course 3 months after mum’s death we are sort of emerging from the gloom and starting to think of going to places again. Except we don’t know where??? There is also the important fact that M and I have been together almost 12 years and so have already done quite a bit of exploring of everywhere within a hour or two of where we live.

Of course there will be places that we haven’t seen and this is why we need some inspiration. So please do get in touch if you know of anywhere new or exciting that we could go that was within an hour or two of Newton-le-Willows?? Any suggestions will be gratefully received 🙂
