I love it when I find somewhere beautiful in my local area that I have never seen before. Our local cafe owner Janine told us earlier in the week that the walk up Billinge Hill (aka Billinge Lump) was good and the view from the top was worth the relatively short walk. It turns out she was right!
There are probably a few places to park to get up the hill, but our sat nav took us to here:
The gold star it the top of the hill and the red marker is where we parked, which incidentally was on Beacon Road, use postcode WN5 7HF and it should get you close. There are little green footpath signs to show you to go and we reckoned it was about a mile from the car to the top of the hill.
As you can see, it really was quite a view and well worth a little walk. I am sure there is lots more to discover, so we will definitely go back. Today I had flimsy shoes and jeans on, neither of which are ideal walking attire for me, but even so, it was lovely. Go Billinge!!
